Well... what's next?
The past few months have been a time of lots of change in my life. I have a new this and a different that. And I'm glad.
So now I'm thinking about my job. I've been looking for a new one for quite some time. Over a year. Not extremely seriously. And to no avail. But now I have a new idea. What if... instead of taking on a new job, I just get rid of my old one?
And trust that something will happen next. The right something.
I've been thinking about a friend's mom who gave away her dining room table. Because someone else needed it. Perhaps it didn't occur to her that, having a family who eats lots of meals together, she needed it too. But more likely she just wasn't worried. Her family ate meals out back at the picnic table. And that worked just fine.
From many perspectives I need my job. But what if I need to get rid of the dining room table before it can even occur to me to sit in the sun at the picnic table.
And what if some sun is exactly what I need now?
Plus TWO of my dear friends have suggested that I quit my job in the past 24 hours. That's a lot.

Well, you mentioned it as a possibility and then you wrote about being frazzled...so it makes sense. I love that kitchen table story, too. For some reason it makes me think of ALL the tables that used to live at our house.

Ask yourself:
Why rush? Why be rash with decisions? As freeing as it may seem to be able to sit at the back table in the sun...that could end up being a realistic problem. Unfortunatley, real life will come at you a little harder than the warm soft sun. You need to eat, pay the rent, pay for internet, and adopt a dog. All of which, can't be done without money -- and er -- a job.
I can say quit your job and make 4. But, hearing what you want to hear may not be the best thing. I want a new job. I can't just quit though, I have a cat.
Search hard -- devote your extra time to finding a job -- tell EVERYONE you want a new job (well perhaps except for your current employer) One will come, that's what I tell myself. And when it does, you can sit on the back porch in the sun watching your happy dog play, because afterall -- you can still afford his food.

Come on C... If you're going to recommend Lousie Hay - you've gotta lose the negative thinking.
P.S. I have about a million other jobs - I just want to quit the "day job."

Well with all your other jobs, why is it even a question?
Negative thinking & Realistic Planning are different things.
If your stable in all your other jobs then why did you sign up for your 4+ jobs anyway?

I don't think you'd be rushing if you quit, town. I'm not saying do it tomorrow or anything. Also, considering how much you hate change, I'm impressed that you're thinking about it.
